Runnemede, NJ – DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT today released images and information announcing the debut issue for the first Battlestar Galactica mini-series event Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse! This exciting all-new BSG adventure is written by the successful writer/producer of “Lost†and “Medium†Javier Grillo-Maruach with art by Battlestar veteran Carlos Rafael. Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse is scheduled for a February release.
Dynamite stated, “Battlestar buffs have been asking for more Starbuck, Apollo and the original crew for over twenty-five years. Our ongoing Classic BSG series has brought the original crew back to the fans and into the sci-fi mainstream, and now our first spin-off mini-series event is really going to get things fraking started in a big way. Written by none other than the television writer and producer Javier Grillo-Maruach- if you don’t recognize the name, you most certainly know his work on hit shows like “Lost†and “Mediumâ€ÂÂ. The Classic Battlestar era is a great arena for a creative talent like Javier to have some fun and tell an innovative and imaginative adventure. The writing is good, but I am REALLY hoping they will improve the artwork. Much of the artistry is too stylized for my tastes. I'm a bit of a realist/impressionist-style person. Perfect example of what I think it should be: like "Debt of Honor", a Star Trek graphic novel, published by DC Comics, written by Chris Clairmont. Now THAT was a book! The story was brilliant, and the art was dead-on. There was absolutely no doubt who the characters were supposed to look like.
